Retrouvaille: The Echo of Us

In shadows long, I’ve kept a silent flame,
a love half-formed, yet more than words could say.
The years between us, like a whispered name,
now part like mist, as night gives way to day.

I see your face, a memory grown clear,
once lost in time, now bright before my eyes.
The spark that flickered faintly reappears,
as though the stars conspired to heal goodbyes.

The silence stretched, but never truly broke,
in dreams, I saw you standing by my side.
The distance only kept the fire stoked,
as now we meet where hope and time collide.

Your voice, familiar yet with echoes new,
awakes the past, but calls for something more.
I feel the pull of all we never knew,
a second chance to open love’s closed door.

In fleeting glances, words remain unsaid,
but every look suggests what we might be.
The space between us, where we once had fled,
now holds the promise of our story.

The years apart have changed the paths we tread,
but deeper roots take hold in shifting ground.
What almost was may yet be born instead,
in soil where lost desires are gently found.

I do not fear what time has left behind,
for all it might have sharpened what I feel.
The future waits for us to now define,
if we are bold enough to make it real.

So here we stand, the past a distant shore,
the present trembling on the edge of flight.
Two hearts that beat in rhythm once before
may finally find their perfect, shared delight.
